Things To Do Near the North Shore Adventure Park

Updated: May 25, 2022

Plan a North Shore vacation around a visit to the Adventure Park! We're in the middle of the best the North Shore has to offer! There are so many things to do nearby that will get you outside in nature to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery of the North Shore.

The good thing is, whether you’re on the high ropes course and ziplines or adventuring around the area, there are challenging activities for athletic types, as well as for those that like to take it easy.

Here are some of the things to do near the North Shore Adventure Park.

Ride the Gitchi-Gami Bike Trail

The Gitchi-Gami State Trail is a paved path that runs along the North Shore. It’s perfect for biking, in-line skating, and hiking. The most beautiful section is located south of the Adventure Park and goes through Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse State Parks. Ride next to Lake Superior and enjoy the awe-striking views.

If you are lodging southwest of the Adventure Park along Highway 61, you could even ride your bike to the Adventure Park! Make a day of it by combining lunch at a restaurant along the way. The Beaver Bay rest area is a great place for a picnic, and there’s even a bike repair station in case you need it. From the rest area, take the bike trail up the hill into Silver Bay and then down a long downhill to the park.

Relax at Black Beach Park on Lake Superior

Just around the corner from the Adventure Park is the most unique beach on the North Shore. Black Beach has two lovely coves and a black beach - the only one of its type on Lake Superior. Have a picnic, relax on the beach, and swim if you dare to brave the cold water! Either way, it’s a beautiful and relaxing place. Bring a picnic lunch too.

Camp near the Adventure Park

The new Black Beach Campground is within walking distance (or bike or ATV) to the Adventure Park. There are also campgrounds at nearby Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, and Tettegouche State Parks.

ATV trails near the Adventure Park

Silver Bay has access to an impressive network of ATV trails that wind through the Northwoods, Tettegouche State Park, and the Finland State Forest. Ride your ATV to the Adventure Park and take advantage of our new ATV parking area! See a map of the trail system here.

See Some North Shore Waterfalls

The North Shore is a great place to see waterfalls! There are several near the Adventure Park. If you’re taking it easy we recommend Gooseberry Falls (the largest on the North Shore) which has a paved trail, or Illgen Falls at Tettegouche State Park which has a short trail from the parking area. If you are looking for a longer trail, hike to Fifth Falls and High Falls at Tettegouche State Park.

Hike to Bean and Bear Lakes

Take the Superior Hiking Trail to a spectacular overlook of Bean and Bear Lakes. This is a challenging hike with great rewards! The 6.3 mile out-and-back trail is for moderate to experienced hikers due to the length and rugged, rocky terrain. Once you get to the overlook, you can hike down to the lake for a swim!
