In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we are highlighting Todd Manske from the Legacy Christian Academy in Andover, Minnesota. As a PE teacher and ski club advisor, he has prioritized outdoor activities for his students because outdoor experiences enhance physical, cognitive, and emotioal health (and it's fun!).
He has been bringing his students to Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior for years so they can experience nature and activities like skiing, hiking, and climbing at the Adventure Park. Here is what Todd has to say about the experience at the North Shore Adventure Park:
Review from Todd Manske, youth group leader
"The kids (and everyone) has a blast! The kids especially like the ziplines. I really like how the courses are good for everyone from beginners to more advanced climbers."
"The staff are awesome! They put an emphasis on safety from the start with great how-to instructions. The safety equipment at the park is top notch. It has click-in features that are fool-proof and keep you safe on the ropes courses and ziplines. The staff also know how to get the kids started on the course and let them have fun."
"With the different levels of difficulty, there is something for everyone. At every level, there are opportunities to try and then try again, so the students learn and get more confident along the way.
There was one girl who really wanted to do the black diamond course. She was so pumped up when she was able to finish it!
Every year, I bring a bigger group. All the kids have heard about it and are excited that it's their turn. It has become a tradition, like a right of passage for our students."
